Categories of Australia Family Reunion Visa
Australia's family reunion program falls under several subclasses depending on the type of relationship:
Partner Visa
- Subclass 309 (Provisional) and Subclass 100 (Permanent) for offshore applications.
- Subclass 820 (Temporary) and Subclass 801 (Permanent) for onshore applications.
- Allows spouses or de facto partners of Australian citizens/PRs to live in Australia.
Parent Visa
- Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143 & 173) -- Faster processing but higher fees.

Eligibility Criteria
For the Sponsor (in Australia):
- Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must demonstrate financial capacity to support the family member.
- In some cases (e.g., parents), must meet the Balance of Family Test.
- Must be in good health.
- Must have no prior criminal convictions.
- Must have valid travel documents.
- Must not have prior visa cancellations or immigration bans.
- Must be admissible to Australia.
